Kurt Cobain (Feb. 20, 1967 – 1994) was an American musician who served as lead singer, guitarist, songwriter and frontman for the grunge band Nirvana. Cobain, having become a globally popular GenX icon after the huge success of 1991’s Nirvana album Nevermind, struggled with his fame. Chronic bronchitis and various painful stomach conditions made his life a misery, and he increasingly used drugs to escape from these pressures.
